Welcome to my 2nd shooter page!

You're probably here because you've inquired about my 2nd shooter services, or I've submitted to your inquiry looking for one.

Here is some pertinent information you'll probably want to know when considering me to be your next 2nd shooter. Thank you for considering me as your 2nd shooter!

Below is how I usually work as a 2nd, so that you are able to get a preview of how I work. But of course I will follow your processes as the lead, so that we are 100% a united team for your couple:

  • Experience: I have been shooting weddings and portraits professionally since 2006. Feel free to peruse my portfolio, and I can also provide links to full galleries upon request
  • Availability: If I've responded about your event date, I am currently available! I now shoot solely as a 2nd or associate, so there are no worries of any of my own projects that would conflict
  • Location: My location is Studio City, CA. I will travel within Los Angeles County without a travel fee
  • Gear: I shoot with the following Canon full frame gear:
  • Cameras: R6 mkII, 5D mk3, 5D mkII
  • Lenses: Canon 28-70mm f2.0L, Sigma Art 24-70mm f2.8, Sigma 70-200mm f2.8, Canon 50mm f1.4, Canon 24-105mm f.4L
  • Lighting, etc: Yongnuo 600EXRT and Neewer 670 speedlights and flash triggers, Neewer 660 LED constant light panels. AlienBees B800 and ABR800 ringflash, light stands, modifiers, sandbags, folding wagon (for your stuff, too!)
  • Rate: If your post included the 2nd shooter rate, that is the rate that I agree to. If not posted, my rate to 2nd shoot is $75 per hour.
  • Preparing for your event: My preparation process for your event:
  • Study event timeline and any context you can share about the couple (engagement photos? location addresses?)
  • Get on a call with you to walk through the timeline together and any style preferences/notes from you
  • Inspect and clean gear, format memory cards, charge batteries
  • Sync camera time with time.gov
  • Set timeline as my phone wallpaper for easy reference
  • During your event: My usual procedures for working with you:
  • I'll let you know my ETA when I leave my home and when I arrive to my starting point
  • I'll arrive to my assigned starting point as much as 30 minutes early
  • I'll gather and format your memory cards, and sync camera times with you, if necessary
  • I'll spend the first few minutes before starting work:
  • Scouting the area for possible first look and portrait locations, considering background, lighting, and time of day
  • Meeting and connecting with the groom, his groomsmen, and family
  • I'll keep in contact with you throughout the day, for example letting you know when the groom is ready for first look, when I am headed to the ceremony, etc.
  • When shooting together:
  • I'll keep an eye on you to see where you are and what lens you're using, so that I don't replicate the same shot. Generally, if you're moving your position, I'll move mine. Keeping an eye on you will also enable me to receive any non-verbal instructions/changes from you from a distance.
  • I'll reference the timeline and provide time checks when needed
  • I can take BTS photos/video for yours and my social media content
  • With guest candids, my personality is that I generally don't prefer interrupting guests for posed grip-n-grins, I prefer to shoot true candid interactions from afar with a zoom lens
  • After your event:
  • I'll return your memory cards (or upload raw files) to you at the end of the night
  • I'll come with you to thank and say goodbye to the couple together as a team
  • I welcome payment/shared tip at the end of event day or the following day
  • I welcome any feedback: what worked, any opportunities for improvement, how much the client gushes about the photos, etc!

I hope this "snapshot" gives you a good idea about how I would be able to work with you as your team, treating your clients with as much care and service as you do! I am here to please, both you and your clients!
